The most direct path to peace is through self-connection

The NVC practitioner takes complete responsibility for their actions, and their feelings.  Understanding that the only two things an individual can control is how they choose to receive a message and what they choose to do in response, the practitioner understands that our capacity for discovering truth and meaning are not dependent on having our needs satisfied. Even when many needs are unsatisfied, the ability to satisfy  our own need for self-connection can be sufficient for inner peace, and for an internal understanding of truth and meaning.  This practice lies at the heart of a practitioner's training in this form.  Replacing the habits of judgement, blame, diagnosis, and agreement and disagreement with the habit of honest self-awareness and self-connection leads the practitioner down the life-long path of responsible self-discovery in the pursuit of truth and meaning.
